Yahnah Lucia Harjo was born in Shiprock, New Mexico on July 28, 1979 and died on December 19, 2010 at her home in Maud, Oklahoma. She is of the Mvskoke, Navajo (Dine’) Nation Native American tribal heritage as well as being enrolled member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. She is the daughter of Richard (Rick) Harjo of Maud, Oklahoma and the late Edith Harjo. She is also survived by her husband, John Hill and daughters Saylee and Ariana Hill and brother Shawn Harjo all of Maud, Oklahoma. Yahnah attended public schools in Oklahoma at Maud, Mason and graduated from Sasakwa. She also completed her Associates Degree Studies at Seminole State College. Her extended families, which she visited quite often, are located on the Indian reservations in Arizona, Isleta New Mexico, Pine Ridge, South Dakota, and her worksite at the Seminole Nation Complex in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Her heart was joyous which she displayed with her wit, humor and laughter. Her demeanor was to make another share a smile. She is a member of the Achena Presbyterian Church Maud, Oklahoma. She was determined to make her spiritual commitments become personal and to be shared by all, especially the children. With this, she leaves us at this season’s time to “sleep in heavenly peace.” Yahnah will arrive at the church at 4:00 P.M., Wednesday and a wake service led by Elder Kelly Tiger is to be held at Achena Presbyterian Church on Wednesday evening, December 22, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. The funeral service is to follow the next day Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. She will be buried in the family cemetery located at the family home site. Reverend Gene Wilson, (Ret.) PCUSA will officiate the service with assistance from Rev. Joe Bruner, Middle Creek Baptist Church, Lamar, Oklahoma and Rick Harjo, Elder, Achena Church. Pall Bearers are: Jason Little, Russell Roberts, Kendall Roberts, Aaron Coker, Andrew Martinez and Rex Haley. Honorary Pall Bearers are: Ferrell Smith, Frank Sewell, Charles Sewell, Ed Jojola, Tony “Oogie” Harjo, Curtis Harjo, Joe Farani, Nathan Hill, Chuck Sewell, Justin and Jason Tapaha, Billy Bemo and Ben Little, Jeremy Wasicuna, Floyd Harjo and Ken Hill.
