Wynona Harjo

Wynona Ann (Wood) Harjo, 66 year-old, lifelong Seminole County resident passed from this life Monday, November 23, 2009 in Meeker, Oklahoma.  She was born November 7, 1943 in Seminole, Oklahoma to parents Jimmy Wood and Flora (Harjo) Wood. Wynona graduated from Bowlegs High School in 1960 and later married Kenneth Wayne “Ollie” Harjo on February 14, 1977 in Seminole County, Oklahoma.  He preceded her in death just a short time ago on August 23, 2009. Wynona was a homemaker who also had worked in the home health care industry. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Keith Douthit and his wife Renee of Meeker, Oklahoma, Tim Harjo of Maud, Oklahoma and Stace and his wife Holli Harjo of Seminole, Oklahoma; one daughter and son-in-law, Brandy Harjo and her husband Mike of Joplin, Missouri; one brother, Hershell “Rusty” Wood of Edmond, Oklahoma; four sisters, Nila Fulton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Laverne Shaffer of Springfield, Missouri, Zelda Cline of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Ida Chilcote of Sulphur, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren which includes Braxton Douthit and Montana Douthit of Meeker, Oklahoma;  she is also survived by a host of other family and dear friends. Wynona was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth “Ollie” Harjo, and by one daughter, Tammie King who died in 2001. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 27, 2009 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma.  Rev. George Harjoce and Rev. Mike Harjo will officiate the service.  Interment will follow at Hitchitte Cemetery located 5 miles east of Little, Oklahoma on Hwy 99-A. Casket bearers will be: Danny Wood, Mike Wood, Russ Wood, Anthony “Buddy” Wood, Rickey Cline, Gregg Chilcote and Johnny Ray Wood. Honorary bearers will be: (Grandsons) Braxton Douthit, Elijah Harjo and Taylor Harjo. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
