Wyleda Kaye Carter was born November 2, 1958 in Seminole, Oklahoma. She was the fifth child of Wille Bob Carter, Sr. and Elfreeda LaRue Carter (Hill).
Wyleda graduated from New Lima High School in 1976. She continued her education at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma where she was competitively selected by the Girl’s State Program. She was a member of the Industrial Arts & Technology Club and Epsilon Pi Tau Professional Honor Society. She graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Drafting. She continued to further her education and received her Master of Science Degree from North Carolina A&T State University. Education was important to her, and she worked in several different capacities.
Wyleda was a student of tae kwon do, where she won several competitions. One of her favorite quotes was, “I am the best at what I do.”
Wyleda was united in marriage to Earl Glenn Yarbrough, Sr. on July 3, 1981. Through this union, Earl “EJ” Glenn Yarbrough, Jr. was born. She loved her son dearly and loved being his mother.
Wyleda was preceded in death by her parents Willie Bob Carter and Elfreeda LaRue Carter and by her sister, Debra Carter-Reed.
Wyleda is survived by her son, Earl “EJ” Glenn Yarbrough, Jr., nine siblings, Willie Bob of Oklahoma, Roger Sherman (Wilma) of Kansas, Irvin Keith of Oklahoma, Rebecca Jean of Oklahoma, Iva Ruth of Oklahoma, Ethel Louise (Charles) of Oklahoma, Dolores Jacqueline (Charles) of North Carolina, LaDonna June (Herman) of Oklahoma, and Roberta Denise (Terry) of Oklahoma, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other close relatives.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole, OK.
