Winnie Ruth (Jackson) Yancey, 81 Life long Seminole resident, Winnie Ruth (Jackson) Yancey, affectionately known as “Woo” to her family, passed away at her home in Seminole on Monday, February 1, 2016 with her family by her side. Winnie was born in Seminole on November 25, 1934 to Lemuel James and Bernice Jackson (Hieronymus). Winnie grew up in the Plant 13 area south of Seminole and attended Bowlegs school from which she graduated in 1952. Winnie married, Carl “Bo” Yancey on July 5, 1952. Winnie loved her church and was a long time member of the Church of Christ. She began her career as a bookkeeper at Norton-Ramsey Chevrolet in Seminole and worked at various Chevrolet and Ford dealerships in Texas. She then spent 17 years with Teachers Credit Union in Oklahoma City. She later worked as site manager at Konawa Senior Citizens Nutrition Center where she loved working with the senior citizens. She ran an antique and collectable shop in the house next to her own for many years and enjoyed opening for business whenever a shopper would stop by. Winnie was also a former member of the "Pink Rose Flower Club," in Seminole. After Winnie retired, she was a full time homemaker, which was her passion. Winnie also enjoyed writing poetry and short stories, working on genealogy, growing flowers, bird watching, her cats, reading, watching her grandsons play sports, and spending time with her family. Winnie is preceded in death by her parents: Lemuel James and Bernice Jackson; two brothers, Lemuel James Jackson, Jr., Billy Joe Jackson, and one son, Russell Clay Yancey. Winnie is survived by her husband of 63 years, Carl “Bo” Yancey; one daughter, Kathy Lynn (Yancey) Rosamond; one brother, Carl Don Jackson; five grandchildren, Clayton Yancey, Cole Yancey, Grant “Matt” Rosamond, Joshua Rosamond, Amanda (Rosamond) Hodge; four great grandsons, and one great granddaughter. Family with greet visitors Friday, February 5, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole. Graveside services will be held at Little Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 with Ray Newell, elder of the Walnut Street Church of Christ in Seminole, will officiate the service. Serving as casket bearers are: Clayton Yancey, Larry Sneed, Bobby Allen and Ryan Harris. Honorary casket bearers are: Cole Yancey, Matt Rosamond, Joshua Rosamond, Melvin Matthews and Charles Padgett.
