Winifred England

Winifred Maxine (Broyles) England, age 95, of Seminole, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 in Seminole. She was born October 14, 1923 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to parents Floyd and Leila (Mhoon) Broyles. She was a telephone operator in Fort Smith, Arkansas during WWII. After the war, Winifred married Idus Franklin England on July 6, 1946 ,in Fort Smith. She followed her husband through college and his preaching assignments for 65 years. She taught Sunday School, Bible classes, cooked for friends and those in need, and was a homemaker for her children. While they lived in Seminole she helped open the pharmacy in Walmart and was a tech there for several years. Their last full time church assignment was with the Seminole Church of Christ, and they chose to remain in their country home after retirement. She lived in Seminole for 44 years. Survivors include her daughters, Suzanne Dixon of Arlington, Texas; Kay Lashley and her husband Steve of Seminole, Oklahoma; son, Richard England and his wife Heather of Bixby, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, other family and dear friends. Winifred is preceded in death by her parents Floyd & Leila Broyles; by her loving husband Idus who passed away on May 28, 2012; granddaughter Eleanor Dixon; and her only sibling Richard Broyles and his wife Mary. Family visitation will be Friday, January 11, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home, 1001 N. Milt Phillips Avenue in Seminole. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Church of Christ, 12040 N. Highway 99 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Arpoika Daniels will officiate the service. Casket bearers will be Jason England, Erin Dixon, Emily Carroll, Jay Lashley, Jack Carroll and Jeremiah McDaniel. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery located on Highway 99 north of Seminole. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
