Winford Adams

Winford Leon Adams, 76, longtime Seminole resident died, Thursday, November 14, 2013 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Winford was born August 29, 1937 to Berney and Mable (Coston) Adams in Holdenville, Oklahoma.   Winford moved to Seminole from Holdenville, Oklahoma and had lived in Seminole for 60 years and graduated from Seminole High School in 1956. He married Helen Evans in Seminole on February 20, 1960 and soon after, entered the U.S. Army and served 14 months in Korea on the Demilitarized Zone as a Military Policeman. After his service to our country, he came home and began working in construction for Bob Caffey Construction and later for Bedford Brewer Construction. He also worked in the oilfield for 20 years before retiring in 1987. After retirement, he became self-employed with his family at the “ Lunch and Such Restaurant”, in Seminole, for the last 26 years.   Winford loved his family and enjoyed being with them. He loved sports, fishing and camping. Winford was a member of the First Christian Church in Seminole.   Winford is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Helen Adams of the home in Seminole, his son and daughter-in-law Brian and Brandi Adams of Seminole, Oklahoma and his three granddaughters Grace Adams, Ava Adams and Marin Adams.   His parents and three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.   Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Little Cemetery, with Chris Stinnett officiating.   Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
