Wilma Garnett Cox, 91, longtime Seminole resident went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 3, 2009. Wilma was born at home in the Little, Oklahoma community on October 18, 1917 to Pioneer Parents Lawrence B. and Edna (Oliver) Aylor.rnrnShe graduated from from Prairie Valley High School in Seminole County, in 1935. She graduated from Shawnee Business School and worked for the Pottawatomie County Election Board and several attorneys as a stenographer. Wilma was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Seminole, Oklahoma. She was a fabulous cook and entertainer. She loved to cook for large family gatherings and her church family. She was an excellent Pie Baker. Wilma was a member of the Shawnee Wunagiza Chapter of the D.A.R. She also loved her hobby of flower growing. Wilma was a member of the National Judges Council and the Redbud Unit of the Shawnee Garden Council. She loved iris judging and growing along with fancy day lilies and a variety of flowers. She loved nature in general. Wilma enjoyed scattering wild flower seeds along the highways and roadways around Seminole.rnrnWilma married J.W."Jim"Cox on December 24, 1938 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Mr. Cox prceded her in death on March 24. 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Susan L. Wilcox on March 27, 1982, one brother Charles L. Aylor and one sister Doris M. Elick.rnrnWilma is survived by brother and sister-in-law, John and Beverly Aylor of Shawnee, Oklahoma., Sister and brother-in-law Ruth and Herman Guin of Shawnee, Oklahoma., Sister and brother-in-law June and Bill Hart of Ada, Oklahoma. rnrnShe is survived by her children, Daughter and son-in-law Diana and Mike Knowles of Seminole, Oklahoma, Daughter and son-in-law Frances and D.E. "Skip" Dolan of Shawnee, Oklahoma., Son and daughter-in-law James David and Johnna Kay Cox of Seminole, Oklahoma. Six grandchildren and two step grandchildren: Tim, Randy and Cindy Wilcox, Jeff, Bill and Greg Knowles, and Mike and Duane Dolan, Eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.rnrnServices are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at the Church of Christ in Seminole on Highway 377 North. with Chris Stinnett officiating. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma.
