William “Bill” Eugene Wheeler, 82 William “Bill” Wheeler, Seminole resident for the past 62 years passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at his home. Bill was born on July 30, 1929 in Garber, Oklahoma to parents, Jacob W. Wheeler and Beulah (Hackler) Wheeler. After graduating from high school, Bill served in the United States Army earning the rank of Corporal while serving in the South Pacific. Bill was of the Baptist faith and a member of the American Legion. Bill retired in 1991 from the Oil Field and then he was able to enjoy his hobby of fishing. Bill married Lucille Carpenter on June 13, 1956 in Childress, Texas. Bill is survived by wife Lucille of the home, one son, Ronald William Wheeler of Pampa, Texas, one daughter, Debra Gail Pruett of Amarillo, Texas. Bill is also survived by three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Beulah Wheeler. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 4, 2012 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, January 6, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. to time of service. Funeral service for Bill will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2012 at the Historic Strother Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield and Rev. Russell Baker officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Seminole, Oklahoma. Serving as casket bearers are: Ron Null, Dewayne Brookshire, Keith Gray and David Conger. Honorary casket bearers are Steven Pickle, Jared Pickle and Charles Cane. Services under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Oklahoma.
