Maud resident William ?Bill? Bassett passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 81. He was born on October 5, 1925 in Cromwell, Oklahoma to Harold Elmer and Hazel (Bridgeman) Bassett. rnrnHe married Tawana Lee (Bussey) Bassett on October 30, 1945 in Maud, Oklahoma. He retired twenty years ago from Buck Exploration where he was in the oilfield.rnrnBassett served in the United States Navy receiving the "Victory Medal", "American Campaign Medal", "Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal" with 5 stars, serving during WWII.rnrnHis parents, one sister, and one grandchild Clinton Bassett precede him in death.rnrnHe is survived by his wife, Tawana Bassett of the home.rnrnOne son and daughter-in-law; Robert W. Bassett and his wife Carolyn of Maud, Oklahoma and two daughters and sons-in-law; Mary L. Byrd and husband Walter of Poetry, Texas and Linda Johnson and husband Donnie of Vici, Oklahoma, one brother, Richard Bassett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Eight grandchildren; Alan Bassett, Mark Estes, David Estes, Kerta Thrower, Michael Emmerick, Trena Hopson, Larrianne Bishop, and Clynt Johnson. Fifteen great grandchildren also survive him.rnrnGraveside services are scheduled for 2:00pm, Thursday, May 17, 2007 at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma with Rev.
