Willetta Faye Sparks was born August 12, 1937 and passed away on Sunday March 3, 2013 after a long battle with cancer she was 75 years old. Willetta was born in Tyler, Texas in 1937. Shortly after her birth to Bill and Ruth Allen, the family relocated to Seminole where Willetta grew up and graduated from Seminole High School. After graduation she married Bill Sparks of Konawa on June 9th, 1955. Bill preceded Willetta in death November 15, 2008 after 53 wonderful years of marriage. Willetta and Bill raised 3 children, William (Bill) Sparks of Tulsa, Gaye Dawn Catcher who passed away in August of 2012, and Robert Dean Sparks of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Willetta had 2 brothers, James D. Pemberton who preceded Willetta in death and Charles F. Pemberton of Seminole. Willetta had 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren at the time of her death. Willetta was educated with an associate’s degree in psychology from Seminole Junior College. She held a cosmetology license and worked in Seminole for a number of years as a hairdresser until she and Bill moved to McAlester in 1973. Willetta then began her career as a baker for Humpty Dumpty and later finished her working career with Braum’s as a store manager. When her husband Bill retired from the O.S.B.I. in 1990 they spent the next 18 years enjoying retirement, traveling and caring for their grandchildren. At Willetta's request, Graveside services will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday March 7th, 2013. Under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Oklahoma Chris Stinnett will officiate at the service.
