William Mandel “Bill” Rogers, 85 year old Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Monday, August 20, 2018 at the Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born July 24, 1933 in Schulter, Oklahoma to parents Vivian Loraine (Colett) Rogers and Clem Huckleberry Rogers. Bill served in the United States Army where he earned the rank of corporal. He also earned the Army Occupation Medal (Japan), the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Camp Star, the United Nations Service Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge. Bill was a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. On January 15, 1952, Bill married Betsie Lenora “Betty” Satawake in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in California for a while where Bill worked as a truck driver for “Young Commercial Transfer”. The couple moved to Seminole where Bill worked as a truck driver for “Hayes Axle”. Then upon his retirement, he continued to work for “United Motors” in Seminole transporting automobiles. Bill loved riding his motorcycle in parades. He also refurbished a military jeep and enjoyed driving it in parades. Survivors include three sons, James Rogers and his wife Carol of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, John Rogers and his wife Cleo of Seminole, Oklahoma, Tim Rogers and his wife Tracy of Seminole, Oklahoma; two daughters, Donna Cullum and her husband Mike Williams of Latta, Oklahoma, Melissa Edmonson and her husband Randy of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one brother, Jackie Rogers of Nebraska; one sister, Pat Kozak of Nebraska; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife of 46 years, Betty Rogers who died September 16, 1998, by two sons-in-law, Thomas Randall and Bobbie Cullum, and by one great granddaughter, Katie Cullum. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 27, 2018 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Military Honors. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery located north of Seminole. Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate the service. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
