Wilford Hopper

Wilford Gene Hopper, 89 year old Tecumseh, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  He was born January 23, 1928 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to parents Juanita Catherine (Slaybaugh) Hopper and Farris Deward Hopper. Wilford served in the United States Army.  He later worked as a self-employed construction and pipeliner until his retirement in 1989.   On September 7, 1956 he married Alma Ruth Knowles in Arkansas. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Alma Ruth (Knowles) Hopper; four sons, Phillip Hopper and his wife Jennifer of Maud, Oklahoma, John Hopper and his wife Shirley of Pink, Oklahoma, Guy Hopper and his wife Joyce of Pink, Oklahoma, Lidge Hopper and his wife Jayne of Ada, Oklahoma; two daughters, Ruth (Hopper) Arms and her husband Alvin of Pink, Oklahoma, Mable Hopper of Pink, Oklahoma; four brothers, John Hopper of Maud, Oklahoma, Charles Hopper of Maud, Oklahoma, Joe Hopper and his wife Julie of Pleasant Grove, Oklahoma, Clarence Hopper and his wife Mary of Maud, Oklahoma; one sister, Juanita (Hopper) Phillips and her husband Ted of Maud, Oklahoma; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends. Wilford is preceded in death by his parents, Juanita and Farris Hopper, by one sister, Ora Alice Glover; by one brother, Raymond Hopper; by one great granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Igleheart; and by one great-great granddaughter, Kyligh Rumbaugh. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, Oklahoma.  Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating the service assisted by Rev. Butch Bradley. Casket Bearers will be: Matthew Hopper, Shane Arms, Tommy Hopper, Clarence Smith, Randy Wells and Boomer Rumbaugh. Honorary Bearers will be: Herb Glover, Richard Rozelle, Heath Smith and Terry Palmer. Services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud, Oklahoma. Phone 405-374-2424.
