Wilda Jim Garner, 93, longtime Maud resident, passed from this life on Thursday, July 6th 2023 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Wilda was born February 20, 1930, in Carr City, Oklahoma (near Maud, Oklahoma) to Wilma Lena and Hice William Hill. Wilda grew up in and around Maud, attended Maud Schools and Graduated from Maud High School in 1949. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Maud.
Wilda loved reading, yard work, and working in her flower beds. She was a hard-working woman who held down many jobs, the longest one being a meter technician for ONE-OK/One Gas for over 40 years retiring at the age of 87. She prided herself on her work ethic and making sure her family was taken care of.
Wilda married Ray Garner on July 15th, 1950, in Shawnee, OK. He preceded her in death on January 1, 2020 after almost 70 years of marriage. They had one child, Paula Jasper.
She is survived by her Grandson Stan Gregory and his wife April of Maud, Great Grandchildren Ashley (Gregory) Potts and her husband Travis, Kyle Gregory, and one great greatgrandchild on the way. She is also survived by two sisters Joy Waltman of Maud, Oklahoma, Robbie Jenkins and her husband Bob of Goldsby, Oklahoma and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ray Garner, sister Ann Arnold, brother Hice (Buzz) Hill, brother-in-law Paul Waltman, niece Sharon Northcott, and nephew Boyd Waltman.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday July 11th, 2023 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma, with burial at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma. Pall bearers will be Britt Waltman, Byron Waltman, Bryan Jenkins, Earl Jenkins, Tyler Jenkins, and Brent Jenkins. Reverend Miles Knutson of Valir Hospice will officiate the services.
The family would like to thank Valir Hospice for the loving care they showed Wilda.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
