Wilber Eugene "Gene" Low

Wilber Eugene “Gene” Low, 77-year-old Wetumka, Oklahoma resident and longtime Seminole County resident passed from this life Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the Veteran’s Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  He was born November 9, 1933 in Edna, Oklahoma to parents Henry Daily Low and Edna Florence (Martin) Low. Low served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He later married Helen Louise (Hill) on September 4, 1997 in Miami, Oklahoma.  Then in 1999 he retired from Commercial Brick Corp. where he had worked as a maintenance supervisor.  Mr. Low was also a member of the Holdenville V.F.W. and the Fairview Cowboy Church in Wetumka. Survivors include his wife, Helen L. Low of the home; five sons, Larry Low of Bristow, Oklahoma, Brad Reynolds of Bennington, Oklahoma, Kevin Low of Burns Flat, Oklahoma, Richard Brown of Wetumka, Oklahoma and Billy Brown of Wetumka, Oklahoma; four daughters, Cindy Maymard of Bryan, Texas, Brenda Fuller of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Nyssa Howard of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Tiffany Low of Seminole, Oklahoma; three brothers, Dillard Low of Holdenville, Oklahoma, Gene Low of Holdenville, Oklahoma and Perry Low of Elk City, Oklahoma; 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends. Mr. Low is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Daily Low and Edna Florence (Martin) Low; by five brothers, Arthur Low, R.K. Low, Chester Low, Harlan Low and Jessie Low; and by one sister, Lenora Harjo. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel located at 1001 N. Milt Phillips Ave. in Seminole, Oklahoma with military honors.  Interment will follow at Wetumka Cemetery in Wetumka, Oklahoma.  Rev. John Roberts will officiate the service. Casket Bearers will be: Larry Low, Caito Kemp, Richard Brown, Bill Brown, Steve Low and Ryan Hardy. Honorary Bearers will be: Durwin Cole, Rex Little, Greg Holliman, Monty Low, Bill Low, Johnny Fuller, Rusty Low. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
