W.E. "Bill" Timmons

July 1, 1925 — March 10, 2019

Willie Edward “Bill” Timmons was born July 1, 1925, the second son of Charley Lee and Grace Liew (Allen) Timmons, at Franks, Oklahoma. His early years were spent in the Franks area.  In 1940, at the age of 15, he quit school to help on the farm.  In 1944 he was drafted for WWII. (He received his GED in 1960, 20 years after leaving school). Bill saw service several places in the states and was sent to Japan near the end of the war.  In 1947 He discharged and returned to Oklahoma.  In 1952 he married Ruby Avirl Lofton Benson which also gained him a daughter, Mary Colleen. After holding several different types of work in the area around Seminole, Oklahoma including oil field jobs, he re-enlisted in the Air Force in 1957 and remained for 20 years.  Bill was very proud of his service and told everyone he would do it again. Upon his retirement from the Air Force, Bill and Ruby returned to Seminole which has always been considered home.  Bill and Ruby celebrated 50 years together before she was taken from him in 2002. In 2015 Bill moved to Iowa to be near Colleen but was always an OKIE at heart.  In September 2018 he returned to Seminole to spend his remaining days. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Ruby Avirl, brothers T.C. Timmons, Lloyd Eugene “Jake” Timmons and Irl Preston “Boss” Timmons and sister Molly Lee “Troy” James and Olive Mae “Jo” “Bobby” Parks, He is survived by daughter Mary Colleen Strong of Clarinda, Iowa, sisters-in-law Mary Sue Lofton of Seminole and Dorothy Timmons of Fairbanks, Alaska.  Brother-in-law Bobby Parks of Seminole, nieces, nephews and many friends including special friends Bud and Sue Hammans of Broken Bow, Oklahoma and his Church family. The family will receive friends at Swearingen Funeral Home from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2019. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 15, 2019 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Arpoika Daniels officiating the service. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery with Military Honors. The family request that donations be made to the Church of Christ Youth Department in Memory of Bill Timmons.  P.O.
