Wayland Shane Harjo, age 47 and a resident of Tonkawa, Oklahoma passed away February 15, 2025 at Hennessey Care Center in Hennessey, Oklahoma.
Viewing is at Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa, and a wake service is scheduled from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 24th at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. The funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 25th at Spring Baptist Church in Sasakwa, Oklahoma. Cremation will follow after the service. Pallbearers are Ronald Gipson, Matt Harjo, Jerry Landreth, Chris Harjo, Bear Gipson, and Felix Martinez, Jr. Honorary bearers are Andrew Harjo, James Harjo, Johnnie Ray Harjo, and James Winfred Harjo.
Wayland was born August 23, 1977 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Johnnie Ray Harjo and Lila Vera Pensoneau. He attended Sasakwa High School and worked as a roughneck in the oil and gas industry. Wayland was a member of the Spring Baptist Church, and he loved fishing and hanging out with his friends and family.
He is survived by his father, Johnnie Ray Harjo of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; one son, Andrew Harjo of Indiana; one daughter, Carrin Bradford of Texas; one brother, James Winfred Harjo of Tonkawa; four sisters, Olivia Williams of Ada, Oklahoma, Katie Harjo of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Jalena Harjo of Tonkawa, and Wythema Porras of Shawnee, two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lila Vera Pensoneau; and his grandmother who raised him, Ellouise Harjo; one daughter, Sheda Sha Harjo; and one aunt, Regina Bounds.
