Wayland Cox passed away at the age of 78 in Tyler, Texas on February 24, 2021. He was born in Seminole, Oklahoma on March 13, 1942 to LG Dodson Cox and Dorothy (Dehart) Cox. He was raised in Seminole and attended Seminole Schools.
Wayland was a veteran and a member of the American Legion for 42 years.
He worked most of his life in the oilfield. He worked for Dresser Atlas Wireline Service for 24 years as an engineer and a truck driver for 10 years until he retired. He loved fishing and camping with his wife and they often stayed at Lake Sam Rayburn in Texas. He also enjoyed playing golf and all kinds of sports, especially watching the Boomer Sooners.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 39 years, Martha Cox of the home, granddaughters; Tiffany Land and Tatum Terrell both of Tyler, Texas, four great grandchildren and nephews Lonnie Cox Jr. (Doug) of Polk City, Florida and Mark Cox of Tyler, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents LG Dodson Cox and Dorothy Pearson, daughters; Jill Davis and Leslie Ann Cox and brother; Lonnie Cox.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 11:00 A.M at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
