Warren Lindley

Warren Lindley, 57 year-old, Hartshorne, Oklahoma resident passed from this life on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at McAlester Regional Health Center he was born on Aug. 25, 1953 in Ada to Warren Elvin and Wanda (Bryant) Lindley.  Warren grew up farming in Calvin and Stuart and graduated from Stuart High School in 1971.   He married Clidia Guinn on Aug. 25, 1973 in Haywood.   Warren started working in the grocery business in Stuart for Sam Rambo at Sam’s Grocery.  He later went to college in Ada and worked at Safeway for Garland Nichols and later became manager at the Safeway store in Midwest City.  While in Midwest City Warren read about a grocery store for sale in Hartshorne.  He and Clidia bought the Hartshorne Market in 1979, later renaming it Lindley’s Grocery, and have operated the store since then.  He was also a part of Misty Valley/Blue Valley Water Company, and had interest in many other business ventures in Hartshorne and the surrounding area.  Warren also loved to ranch and believed in hard work and hard play.  He always found time to play and spend quality time with his grandchildren, which included four wheeler rides that required numerous cookie breaks and scenic views, where large amounts of sugar and caffeine were provided before returning the kids to their parents.  Warren loved OU sports, traveling and eating a good steak.  They also enjoyed spending time in Branson with their kids and grandkids.  He also relished his trips to Colorado with some of his best friends for golf and elk hunting.   He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  He leaves to cherish his memories his wife,Clidia Lindley of the home, two sons and daughters-in-law; Chris and Sassy Lindley of Seminole, Oklahoma, Jason and Kristi Lindley of Hartshorne, Oklahoma, daughter and son-in-law; Kari and Bryce Lawson of Edmond, Oklahoma, his grandchildren; Tyler, Blake, Holli and Brett Lindley, Carter and Lydia Lawson, and Crewe and Savanna Lindley.  He is also survived by his father Elvin Lindley of Stuart, Oklahoma, one brother and sister-in law; Steve and Renea Lindley of Piedmont, Oklahoma, one sister and brother-in-law; Becky and Robert Carlton of Atwood, Oklahoma, mother-in-law; Priscilla Guinn of McAlester, Oklahoma, brother-in-law; Jerry Shackleford of McAlester, Oklahoma, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Carolyn and Johnny Benedict of Coalgate, Oklahoma.  He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other family and very dear friends. His mother Wanda Lindley preceded him in death. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Hartshorne Elementary School Activity Center.  Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hartshorne with Dr. Jim Utterback, Wes Brown, Ken Heupel, David Mass and Richard Lerblance officiating the service. Casket Bearers will be: Mike Williams, H.L. Dollins, Wes Brown, Richard Lerblance Dr. Jim Utterback, Roger Day, Neil Dollins and Billy Ray Ziverk. Honorary Bearers will be: Pete Vinzetta, Carl Voss, Ken Bass, Roi Nelson, Garland Nichols, Tracy Adams, Jimmy Russell, Mike Russell, Larry Morgan  Lee Morgan, A.C. Maclin, Snooky Amaranto, Thomas Irwin, Jeff Irwin, Jeff Beare and Johnny Shackleford. The family has requested that donations be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice.
