Wanda Sims-Knaus

Wanda Lee (Sims) Knaus, 81 year-old, longtime Maud resident passed from this life Thursday, November 17, 2011 at her home in Maud, Oklahoma.  She was born August 23, 1930 in Macomb, Oklahoma to parents Chesley C. Sims and Thelma (Armstrong) Sims. She married William H. Knaus on October 4, 1996 of Bentonville, Arkansas. Wanda was a member of the Church of God. Survivors include her husband William “Bill” Knaus of the home; one son, Tommy Carlie of Missouri; two daughters, Saundra Mowery of Greensboro, North Carolina and Deborah Hamilton of Center, Alabama; two brothers, William L. “Buddy” Sims of Texas and J.T. Hayden of Arizona; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grand children and a host of other family and dear friends. Wanda is preceded in death by her father, Chesley C. Sims, her mother, Thelma (Armstrong) Sims-Hayden and by her stepfather, J.C. "Johnny" Hayden. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 21, 2011 at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma.  Sidney Freeman will officiate the service. Visitation will be held at Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud, Oklahoma on Friday, November 18, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, November 19, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday, November 20, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud, Oklahoma.
