Wanda Jean Graves Birth: May 19, 1924 in Maud, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma Death: Feb. 7, 2004 in Palmetto, Florida Wanda, a former realtor, giftware distributor, mother and grandmother, died Saturday, February 7, 2004. She was 79 years old. She was born Wanda Jean Graves in Maud, Oklahoma on May 19, 1924 and was the younger of two daughters born to David and Verta Mae Graves. David Graves was the owner of businesses including a cotton gin and a sawmill operation. Wanda and her sister Loreigh grew up in rural Oklahoma during the years of the Great Depression. As World War II approached, she married John Pelley of Jenks, Oklahoma. After his service with the 8th Air Force, they settled in Texas where they raised two sons. She later married Jack Mintkenbaugh of Cincinnati, Ohio and spent several years traveling throughout the United States and Europe before settling in Florida. In retirement, Wanda nurtured a love of golf and bridge when she wasn't doting on her grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, John Pelley of Bend, Oregon, and Scott Pelley of Darien, Connecticut; and two grandchildren, Reece and Blair Pelley also of Darien. A memorial service was held at the Imperial Lakes Community Clubhouse in Palmetto, Florida in 2004. Wanda will be interred at the Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 11:30 a.m., with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating the memorial service.
