Walter Lee Taff, 76, longtime Maud, Oklahoma resident, entered this life on July 11, 1938 and entered eternal life on February 27, 2015. Walter was born in Harjo, Oklahoma, northwest of Maud, to Chrisa Lee (Wise) and O.O. “Bud” Taff. As a child, Walter lived in California, but spent the majority of his life in and around the Maud, Oklahoma area. Walter graduated from Harjo High School, and then spent three years serving in the U.S. Army, in the 501st infantry, as a paratrooper. Walter retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1993 as a jet mechanic. After retirement he went to work in law enforcement for the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Department as a transport officer and deputy. Walter married Erma June (Bussey) on September 18, 1964 in Maud, Oklahoma and they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Walter is survived by his wife Erma Taff of Maud, Oklahoma, his daughters Kelley Azlin of Maud, Oklahoma and Casey Stackhouse and her husband Eddie of Maud, Oklahoma, one brother and sister-in-law Jimm and Betty Taff of Maud, and one sister Linda Garner of Maud, Oklahoma. He is also survived by two step-sisters, one step brother, five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Melvin Taff, and daughter Donna Lynette Taff. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, Oklahoma, with Rev. Butch Bradley officiating.
