Longtime Seminole resident Walter Maxwell Downey passed away on May 18, 2007 at the age of 92. He was born on May 31, 1914 in Tyrone, Missouri to David and Suemma Josephine Aldridge.rnrnHe married Helen Zenith Selfridge on July 23, 1934 in Seminole, Oklahoma; she preceded him in death on December 13, 2003.rnrnHe worked for Consumer?s Gas Station as an attendant for many years. He loved his senior citizens activities and dances. At the Heritage House he enjoyed the meals and companionship with his friends. He was also a commercial truck driver, hauling gasoline and grain and a taxi cab driver here in Seminole and in Missouri.rnrnHe is survived by four sons: Walter Dale Downey of Seminole, Barnett Eugene Downey of Sherman, Texas, William Keith Downey of Crane, Texas and Kenneth Ray Downey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, three daughters: Joyce Darlene Burnett of Seminole, La Wana Sue Holder of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Sharon Kay Baker of New Braunsfels, Texas. Two brothers, Bob Fulk of Missouri and Delbert Fulk of Missouri, two sisters: Lavaun Lay and Zella Mackey both of Missouri and close companion Vivian Haffner of Seminole, Oklahoma. He is also survived by twenty-seven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren as well as a host of other family and friends.rnrnHe is preceded in death by his parents; Suemma Josephine Morris and Mack Fulk, step-father, David Edward Downey; wife Helen Zenith Downey; brother, Edmond Arlo Downey and grandson, Kirby Lee Little.rnrnFuneral services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
