Vivian Fleming Brower

November 2, 1924 — October 23, 2020

Seminole

Vivian (Fleming) Brower, 95, former longtime Seminole county resident, passed from this life on Friday, October 23, 2020, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where she had been living. Vivian was born November 2, 1924 in Rising Star, Texas, to Ancel Harvey Fleming and Martha Jewel (Montgomery) Ridley.

Vivian married Conrad Brower on March 4, 1945, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on January 4, 2000.

Vivian is survived by her two daughters, Laurie Johansen of Grapevine, Texas, and Marilyn Stewart of Seminole, Oklahoma, her sister, Judy Runyan of Ash Grove, Missouri, her six grandchildren, Jeff Patton, Meagan Gentry, Andy Johansen, Benjamin Johansen, John Stewart and Betsy Stewart- Dooley, and their families, twelve great-grandchildren, and a one week old great great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad, and her daughter, Kathleen Brown.

Vivian grew up in Oklahoma City with her parents and later her baby sister.  She excelled in school and during World War II worked at the USO as a secretary, a place she loved.  She and Conrad married during his leave from the Coast Guard. For the next many years, they together lovingly reared their three girls in Oklahoma City.  She was a dedicated wife and mother who made sure her girls always were encouraged to be whatever they wanted to be.  Cookies were always baking, suppers were fun around the table, picnics and day trips around Oklahoma were the norm as they provided wonderful childhoods for their girls.  Vivian was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and lifted her beautiful soprano voice in the choir at Northwest Baptist Church.  After her beloved husband retired, they began their dream to move to the country.  He built a house and put in a lake on beautiful land near Cromwell, Oklahoma.  Those next twenty years were idyllic as they enjoyed being outside and together, gardening, fishing, traveling.  The grandchildren were in heaven roaming The Woods, making memories that will last their lifetimes.

After the sudden death of her beloved husband, Vivian continued to live alone with the help of her family.  A great reader, she spent many evenings with a book and her two cats on her lap.  She loved biographies and American history, and was willing to discuss every book with anyone.  For the last year and a half, she’s lived in Oklahoma City at an assisted living facility, being visited frequently by her daughters and grandchildren until the isolation of Covid began.  The family is grateful that they were finally able to be with her recently, and that they were able to spend this week with her at the hospital.

Vivian is now exactly where she wants to be, with her much loved husband, her cherished daughter and her Lord
