Virginia (Conn) Gladden-Rupert, age 96 and a former resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away at her home in Asher, Oklahoma Thursday, June 28, 2018. Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 2, 2018 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Konawa Cemetery. Rev. Clint Dawkins will officiate, and casket bearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons. Virginia was born October 4, 1921 in Asher, Oklahoma to Robert Clemm Conn and Stella Von (Crenshaw) Conn. She graduated from Asher High School, and married Voyt Wesley Gladden on November 9, 1940 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. After moving to Tulsa, Virginia worked as a waitress for Goldie’s Grill for more than twenty years. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Rebekah’s, and the Shriners, and was a member of the Methodist Church of Konawa. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Robert Gladden of Asher, and Charles Gladden of Uvalda, Georgia; four grandsons, John, Bobby, Billy, and Gary Gladden: eleven great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Voyt Gladden on October 9, 1987, and second husband, Paul Rupert.
