Virginia (Yahola) Powell, 70, longtime Seminole resident, died Friday, June 9, 2017 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Virginia was born March 15, 1947 in Yeager, Oklahoma to Alex Yahola and Minnie (Lowe) Yahola. Virginia moved to Seminole 12 years ago from Foley, Alabama. She was a member of Pecan Grove Methodist Church, and a member of the Creek Nation of Oklahoma. She married Samuel Powell in 1965 in Holdenville, Oklahoma; he preceded her in death on December 16, 1996. She is survived by three sons, Jamie Powell, Jeffrey Powell and Bryan Powell all of Seminole, Oklahoma, three daughters, Sandra Powell of Seminole, Oklahoma, Kimberly Powell of Wewoka, Oklahoma and Michelle Powell of Seminole, Oklahoma, three brothers, Ben Yahola of Florida, Jonas Yahola and Raymond both of Tulsa, Oklahoma, three sisters Betty Tiger of Holdenville, Oklahoma, Ella Yahola and Imogene Yahola both of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and seventeen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one daughter, Teresa Janell Powell. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, with burial at Yeager Cemetery. Danny Faulkner will officiate at the service; Frank Moppin and Malcom Tiger will assist. Wake services will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel. Casket bearers will be Jonathan Maples, Louis Ballard, Charlie Marshall, Jose’ De Jesus Lopez ( Chuy), Timothy Powell and Rachel Powell. Honorary bearers will be Dayton and Makyiah Maples, Carlos Santillan, Kyron Ballard, Braydon, Treyton, Kanen, Timmy, Cash and Tyler Powell, William Porter and Samuel Hutchinson.
