Viola May Brinsfield, 79, Seminole resident died, Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the Seminole Estates Care and Rehab Center in Seminole, Oklahoma. Viola was born on March 9, 1935 at Gypsy, Oklahoma in Creek County, to Katy Gertrude (Weaver) and Mose Garfield Starrett. Viola moved to Savanna, Oklahoma, and lived there until 1981 when she moved to Wewoka, Oklahoma and lived there until 2010 when she moved to Norman, Oklahoma. She moved back to Seminole in November of 2013. Viola loved being with her daughters and her grandchildren, she loved to travel and enjoyed going to Yellowstone National Park, Galveston, Texas, Carlsbad Caverns, in New Mexico, the mountains and many other places; Sometimes she was able to take her daughters with her. She also loved to spend time at the lake, go fishing, camping and loved playing pool. Viola was married to Ed Brinsfield for many years before his death in December 1994. She is survived by her three daughters; Debbie Rhodes and her husband Delbert of Fort Worth, Texas, Delma Anderson and her husband Mark of Norman, Oklahoma and Darla Harris of Seminole, Oklahoma; her brother Garlin Starrett of McAlester, Oklahoma and her sister Opal Stidham of California. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Sean, Chris, Jason and Kevin Rhodes, Gayla Schimmels, Jamie Gullett, Debra Hurley, Tonya Hall, Beau Lindsey and Wynter Smith and twenty-three great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous special nieces and nephews. Graveside services are planned for 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Oakwood Cemetery, south of Wewoka, Oklahoma, with Jason Chambers officiating. Casket bearers will be Sean Rhodes, Jason Rhodes, Kevin Rhodes, Derek Rhodes, David Rhodes and Beau Lindsey. Honorary Bearers will be Delbert Rhodes, Mark Anderson, James Gregg, Randy Gregg and James Brinsfield. Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
