Vina Nicholson Estes

Vina Ethel (Tidwell) Nicholson Estes, 91 year-old, longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident passed from this life on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 in Yukon, Oklahoma.  She was born September 5, 1922 in Marion County, Alabama to parents, Ola Bessie (Crow) Tidwell and Virgil Randolph Tidwell. Mrs. Estes was a homemaker and a longtime member of the Wolf Freewill Baptist Church in Wolf, Oklahoma. Vina married her first husband Randle Earl Nicholson in Mississippi and the couple moved to Seminole in 1939.  She and her husband Randle were involved in a tragic automobile accident at the corner of Strothers and Harvey Road in Seminole, on October 25, 1964.  The accident took the life of her husband and the father of her three sons, Bob, Bill and Jim, and left her critically injured. Vina persevered and despite this tragic event continued to raise her sons and later married Theodore Estes in 1971. Mrs. Estes leaves to cherish her memory one son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Annette Nicholson of Roseville, California; two daughters-in-law, Kathleen Nicholson (the widow of Bill) of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and Rosanne Nicholson (the widow of Jim W.) of Yukon, Oklahoma; one sister, Emma Jean and her husband Floyd Dodds of Booneville, Mississippi; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and a host of other family and dear friends. Mrs. Estes was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Randal Earl Nicholson; her second husband, Theodore Estes; two sons, Bill Nicholson and Jim W. Nicholson; one brother, Paul Tidwell; three sisters, Rhoda Bolt, Annie Jones and Etta Self; and by one great-grandchild. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Little Cemetery Chapel located in Little Cemetery north of Seminole, Oklahoma.  Rev. Alan Wood will officiate the service. Casket Bearers will be: Randy Nicholson, Rick Nicholson, Bart Nicholson, Keith Nicholson, Tim Nicholson, Mike Nicholson, John Nicholson, Tom Nicholson and Larry Taylor. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
