Victor Carl Burton

Victor Carl Burton, Sr., age 72 and a resident of Asher, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016, at his home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Asher under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.  Burial will follow at Wanette Cemetery.  Bob Wells will officiate, and pallbearers are William Burton, Tyler Burton, Richard Burton, Jim Burton, Tim Burton, and Charles White.  Honorary pallbearers are Dee Burton and Kyle Burton. Victor was born July 9, 1943 in Moorewood, Oklahoma to Sylvester Burton and Eula Victoria (Drinnon) Burton.  They moved to California when he was nine years old.  He married Melba Jean Wells on November 29, 1960 in St. George, Utah, and they moved to Asher in 2012.  Victor was the owner of Vic Burton Concrete Company, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Asher.  He was also a member of the Masonic Rites, and he loved fishing, hunting, and being with his family. He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Melba Jean Burton of the home; six sons, Victor Carl Burton, Jr. and wife, Angela of Thayer, Missouri, Harvey Dale Burton of Thayer, Missouri, Robert DeWayne Burton and wife, Cindi of Thayer, Missouri, Douglas LeRoy Burton and wife, Nicole of Norman, Oklahoma, Chester Doyle Burton of Thayer, Missouri, and Chester Dale Burton of Asher, Oklahoma; two brothers, James Harvey “Sonny” Burton and wife, Betty of Ceres, California, and Glenn Dee Burton and wife, Sunnie Lynn of Harrah, Oklahoma; two sisters, Bernice Link and husband, Jim of Tecumseh, Missouri, and Elizabeth Powell of Clarksville, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Victor Carl III, Harvey DeWayne, Eric Alexander, Elijah Dale, Robert Paul, Kara Jean, Jacob Douglas, and Zachary Matthew; and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Victoria Burton; two sisters, Bonnie Garrison and Edna Edwards; and two brothers, Jerry Burton and Truett Burton.
