Veta Waunell Young, 81, longtime Seminole resident, died Friday, February 14, 2014 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Veta was born June 24, 1932 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Bessie (Walters) Mitchell and Robert Mitchell. Veta was a homemaker and a longtime member of the Freewill Baptist Church. She was a Cub Scout den mother and also was an avid reader. Veta married Howard D. Young on May 3, 1951 in Gainesville, Texas. Veta is survived by her husband Howard D. Young of Seminole, Oklahoma; her son, Rick Young and his wife Sheila Young of Benton, Arkansas, her grandchildren ; Shawna Anderson and her husband Bill, of Benton, Arkansas, Tara Young of Benton, Arkansas, Ryan Young of Benton, Arkansas, Aaron Young of Wetumka, Oklahoma and April Pryor of Holdenville, Oklahoma; her two sisters Marlene Moran of Newalla, Oklahoma and Joyce Driskill of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 17, 2014 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Rev. Allen Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole. Casket bearers will be Mark Easley, Harvey Young, Lindell Kay, William Adcock, Joe Beach and Jimmy Choate.
