Vernon Ray Kinder, age 63 and a former resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away at his home in Oklahoma City on Saturday, January 25, 2014. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Rev. Steve Lowrance and Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate. Pallbearers are Ron Mitchusson, Ray Roskopf, Mike Sharp, Dylan Miller, Dakota Miller, and Charles Miller. Vernon was born on April 3, 1950 in Ada, Oklahoma to Harold Lee Kinder and Minnie Lee (Bayne) Kinder. He graduated from Konawa High School in 1968 and attended Oklahoma University. He had also served in the Oklahoma National Guard. With over thirty years of experience, he made a career as a food service supervisor for Integris Southwest Medical Center. Vernon was meticulously neat, and he loved driving new cars, listening to music and caring for his dogs. His is survived by his friend, Roy “Buster” Holloway of Oklahoma City; his mother, Minnie L. Kinder of Konawa; one daughter, Crystal Miller and husband, Charles of Ada, Oklahoma; one sister, Diana Kinder of Konawa; three cousins raised by Minnie and Harold as their own children, Ivoleta Mitchusson and husband Ron of Konawa, Kim Weaver and husband Roger of Eufaula, Oklahoma, and Ray Roskopf of Ada, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Dakota and Dylan Miller; and one great grandchild, Logan Miller.
