Verna Mae Wenner, Seminole resident, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, in Seminole at the age of 76. Verna was born on August 6, 1945, in Sand Springs, Oklahoma to Dea Melvin and Mae Laura (Garrison) Dodd.
Verna spent most of her life in the Sand Springs area as well as Fisher Bottom. She worked as a bank teller and in home health. She took pride in working as a sales representative for Avon. Verna enjoyed gardening and having yard sales. She loved her white cats, Millie, Molly and Annie. She was a member of Ideal Street Baptist Church. She loved having family time and dinner gatherings. She liked helping make homemade lye soap with her mother. Verna enjoyed camping and traveling to Branson, Missouri and Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She kept the family together when her mother passed away. She also treasured her visits with her best friend, Jamiesa and attending her school reunions.
Verna is survived by her brother, Herman Dodd and wife, Karen; sister, Alice Johnson and husband Sam and several other family and friends.
Verna was preceded in death by her husband Dean on January 25, 2000; father, Dea Dodd; mother, Mae Dodd; sister, Lavonne Weidner and brother, Burl Dodd.
Viewing will be held on Monday, January 17, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma.
