Verla Mae Gosa Keener

Verla Mae (Gosa) Keener, 86 year old McLoud, Oklahoma resident and former Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Monday, April 30, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at her home.  She was born February 17, 1932 in Seminole to parents Norman Mathis Gosa and Pearl Jane (Thomas) Gosa.  Verla graduated from Varnum High School in 1950. On October 7, 1954, Verla married Donald Leon Keener in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  She was a homemaker and was a member of Blue Lakes Baptist Church in Norman, Oklahoma. Verla leaves to cherish her memory her twin sons, Danny Lee Keener and his wife Sharon of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Mackey Ray Keener and his wife Theresa of McLoud, Oklahoma; one daughter, Connie K. Porter and her husband Glen of Van Buren, Arkansas; one sister Hazel Hollon of McAlester, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Velma Gosa of Frederick, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Shane Keener, Kyle Keener, Kayla (Keener) Smoot; three great-grandchildren, Kipton Keener, Kodi Keener, Shaena “Timber” Keener and baby Smoot to be arriving soon; Verla is also survived by a host of other family and friends. Verla is preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, Donald Leon Keener who died July 29, 2013. She is also preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph Gosa, Marshall Gosa and Lowell “Cot” Gosa. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Darrell Whitten officiating the services.  Interment will follow at Little Cemetery where she will be laid to rest by her husband Donald Leon Keener. Casket Bearers will be: Shane Keener, Kyle Keener, John Gosa, Jon Green, Ryan Smoot and Jeff Hayes. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
