Verena Hicks

Verena Mae (Blaylock) Hicks, 75 year old longtime Seminole resident, passed from this life June 23, 2006 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born February 22, 1931 in Maud, Oklahoma to parents, Chester Earl Blaylock and Lessie Ray (Stalnaker) Blaylock.rnrnShe had lived in Seminole for 35 years, moving back to Seminole from Cleveland, Oklahoma a few years ago.rnrnVerena, retired from home health care and was also a former beautician. She was a member of the Seminole Church of Christ.rnrnVerena is survived by her husband, Bill Hicks who she married, July 20, 1952 in Seminole, Oklahoma at the Church of Christ.rnrnAlso surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law; Stan & Cathy Hicks of Wichita, Kansas and Steve & Bobbye Hicks of Houston, Texas. One daughter and son-in-law, Anne & David Boyett of Midwest City, Oklahoma. One brother and sister-in-law, Del & Lora Blaylock of Alameda, California. Seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, also survive.rnrnFuneral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 26, 2006 at the Seminole Church of Christ with Chris Stinnett, officiating.rnrnInternment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma.rnrnServices are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
