Vera Dean (Eddy) Shoemaker O?Dell, 86 year-old longtime Maud resident passed from this life Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Moore Medical Center in Moore, Oklahoma. She was born July 16, 1922 in Maud, Oklahoma to parents Thomas Jefferson ?T.J.? Eddy and Avo (Longley) Eddy.rnrnVera Dean grew up in Maud and attended Maud High School. Following High School she married the father of her children Paul Shoemaker, he preceded her in death on December 30, 1982. She had made her home in Maud for many years while working in Seminole at ?Humpty Dumpty? super market as a cashier until her retirement in 1975. Later she married her second husband Sam O?Dell in September of 1991 in Maud, Oklahoma.rnrnTogether they enjoyed their lives together living in their ?Town House? they jokingly called their home in Norman and weekends at her ?Country Home? in Maud. This September they would have celebrated their 19th Anniversary.rnrnVera Dean is survived by her husband, Sam O?Dell, she cared for until health wouldn?t allow her and he became a resident of The Sterling House of Norman, Oklahoma. Other survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Don Unruh of Snyder, Texas; one brother, Tommy G. Eddy of Franklin, Louisiana; one sister, Wilma Smith of Spavinaw, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Donna and her husband Jay Kincaid, Kristi Unruh, Lori Unruh, Jake and his wife Mandy Unruh, Mardee and her husband Caprice Vaughn and John Ryan Shoemaker; five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews including a special niece Pam Underwood of Moore, Oklahoma. Vera Dean is also survived by a host of other family and dear friends who she loved dearly.rnrnVera Dean is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Paul Shoemaker (12-30-1982); one son, John Shoemaker (4-18-2003); and by three sisters, Norvella Chase, Wanda Richards and Margaret Cole.rnrnFuneral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 4, 2009 at the Westside Church of Christ, located at 726 McGee Drive in Norman, Oklahoma. Phillip Johnson and Leon Dennis will officiate the service.
