Vera Naomi (West) O’Connor, age 89 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at her home on Sacred Heart Road. A Wake service is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 8th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Konawa, and a Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 9th also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Konawa under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Fr. Joe Arledge will officiate. Pallbearers are Curtis Ringgold, Jr., Ezekiel O’Connor, Brandon Floyd, Dennis O’Connor, Travis Hendricks, and Dylan O’Connor. Vera was born on July 8, 1923 in Bixby, Oklahoma to Chauncey West and Goldie (Lumley) West. She married Garland Leo O’Connor in 1942. She moved from Shawnee to Konawa some sixteen years ago. Vera was a member of the Catholic Church of Konawa, and she enjoyed sewing and making dolls. She loved her family very much. Vera is survived by four sons, Victor O’Connor of Konawa, Oklahoma, Steve O’Connor of Konawa, Hal O’Connor of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Gene O’Connor also of Shawnee; five daughters, Mary Ann Arledge of Newalla, Oklahoma, Jo Ann O’Connor of Konawa, Margaret Atchley of Georgia, Loretta O’Connor of Shawnee, and Janice Floyd of Konawa; two sisters, Gladys Beavers of Shawnee, and Mary Lou Harmon of Shawnee; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chauncey and Goldie West; her husband, Garland Leo O’Conner; one son, Dwaine O’Connor; three brothers, David, Allen and Samuel West; three sisters, Ruth Harmon, Janie Hartshorn, and Daisy Keith.
