Vaughn Eugene Newman

On September 25, 2013, heaven gained one of its favorite sons. Vaughn Newman was welcomed into the loving arms of his Savior Jesus. Vaughn lived a life consumed with loving Jesus. He was a church planter, a church helper, a missionary, a coach, a friend and a mentor. Vaughn was always ready and willing to serve his Lord however he could in literally any part of the world. Vaughn Eugene Newman, 58, was born, September 1, 1955 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Ira E. Newman and Esther G. (Stafford) Newman. Vaughn was a member of the Family of Faith Life Center, north of Shawnee, Oklahoma and a member of the International Christian Leadership Connections. He earned a B.A. Degree, was a pastor and missionary with the Family of Faith College. He was a wonderful, husband, father, son, brother and uncle. Vaughn married Janice Buchanan on November 28, 1974 in Bowlegs, Oklahoma. Vaughn is survived by his loving wife; Janice Newman of Shawnee, Oklahoma, a daughter Joy Newman of Shawnee, his mother Esther Phillis and step-father Clarence Phillis of Seminole, Oklahoma; four brothers Kevin Newman of Pratt, Kansas, Terry Newman of Wichita, Kansas, Steve Phillis and Ronnie Phillis both of Garden City, Kansas, and a sister Linda Mulligan of Scott City, Kansas. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and his father-in-law Berry W. “ Buck” Buchanan on July 31, 2013. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, September 30, 2013 at the Family of Faith Fellowship north of Shawnee, Oklahoma with Dr. Sam Matthews and Daniel Matthews officiating. Burial will follow at Wolf Cemetery south of Seminole. Casket bearers will be Justin Newman, Bob Janeway, Jimmy Willis, Clay Anderson, Rick Pemberton and Andy Hennen. Honorary bearers will be John Sokolis, Marion Purkey, Nathan Matthews, Larry Bowen and Ras Robinson In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Vaughn Newman memorial fund for the Philippines, c/o Family of Faith Fellowship, P.O.
