Van Rose, 85, longtime Seminole resident died Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Unity Health Center-North in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Van was born August 19, 1925 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Arthur V. and Vera M. (Wood) Rose. He grew up in Last Chance just outside of Okemah, Oklahoma. Later attending Okemah public schools and graduating from Okemah High School. Van worked for Sun Oil Company for 40 years retiring in 1986, he was a pipeline welder with them for 20 years and the last 20 years was a pipeline connecting foreman. He was a longtime member of the Ideal Street Baptist Church in Seminole, Oklahoma where he served as a deacon. Van loved horses, roping and rodeos, he was a calf roper and loved to train and raise roping horses for many years. He also was a big basketball fan and loved to watch Seminole High School Basketball and the Oklahoma City Thunder NBA Team. Van married his high school sweetheart Emma Mae Fick on July 6, 1945 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Emma Rose of Seminole, Oklahoma. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law Curtis and Nancy Rose of Rattan, Oklahoma and Mike and Laura Rose of Seminole, Oklahoma. His grandchildren Curt Rose of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Missy Kropp of Oologah, Oklahoma, Michael Rose of Seminole, Oklahoma and Matthew Rose of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma also survive him. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Emily Rose, Ridge Rose, Reid Rose, Carson Kropp, Kennedy Kropp, Cash Rose and Blair Rose. Funeral services at planned for 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Glen Williams officiating.
