Valena Jo (Sexton) Bateman

Valena Jo (Sexton) Bateman, 71 year old Wolf, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2019 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  She was born February 12, 1948 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to parents Leila Mae (Green) Sexton and James Delbert Sexton. Valena married Raymond “Larry” Bateman on May 26, 1967 at the Church of Christ in Seminole, Oklahoma. Valena was a homemaker and a stay at home mom. She loved spending time with her family, fishing, working on puzzles and photography. She is survived by one son, Michael Bateman and his wife Patricia of Wolf, Oklahoma; one daughter, Jamie Bateman of Wolf, Oklahoma; one son-in-law, Billy “Shane” Campbell of Wolf, Oklahoma; two brothers, Johnnie Sexton of Calumet, Oklahoma, Ronnie Sexton of Calumet, Oklahoma; two sisters, Darlene Hamilton of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, Tisha Evans and her husband Robert of Calumet, Oklahoma; three brothers-in-law, Roy Bateman and his wife Jo of Wolf, Oklahoma, Danny Bateman of Kingston, Oklahoma, Mark Bateman and his wife Dana of Montana; five sisters-in-law, Elaine Weaver and her husband Gary of Latta, Oklahoma, Barbara Heilaman and her husband Danny of Wolf, Oklahoma, Joyce Savage and her husband Dan of Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma, Connie Pickering and her husband Boyd of Utah, Janet Burris and her husband John of Wolf, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren, Ryan and Taylor Davenport of Paden, Oklahoma, Ethan Bateman of Wolf, Oklahoma, Shayla and Brady Campbell of Wolf, Oklahoma and Gracie Taylor of Wewoka, Oklahoma; Valena is also survived by a host of other family and dear friends. Valena is preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, by her parents J.D. and Leila Sexton and by her mother and father-in-law, Marvin and Louise Bateman. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Wolf Cemetery where she will be laid to rest by her husband of 51 years, Raymond “Larry” Bateman who died December 15, 2018 and by her daughter Kimberly (Bateman) Campbell who died May 5, 2019.  Pastor Tommy Dale Jesse will officiate the service. Casket Bearers will be: Ryan Davenport, Ethan Bateman, Brady Campbell, Chase Evans, Levi Kloiber and Rob Freyman.
