"TJ" Thaddeus J. Yates

Thaddeus J. Yates, known as “TJ” passed away from this life at the age of 79 at his home in Asher, Oklahoma on Thursday, October 11, 2012. No services are scheduled at this time, and cremation is under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. TJ was born on May 24, 1933 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Rufus Yates and Thelma (Whiteley) Yates.  After graduation, he proudly served in the Navy.  TJ was a pipe fitter and welder by trade.  He loved traveling, watching football, going to the dirt track, reading Louis Lamore books, and he loved horses. He is survived by his former spouse, Linda David of Asher, Oklahoma; one son, Joe Yates of the home; two sisters, Oma Waters of Stratford, Oklahoma and Margaret Black of Shawnee, Oklahoma and one granddaughter, Ivy Leah Morris. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Thelma Yates; one infant sister and one infant brother; one sister, Mary Ruth; two brothers, Frank and William Yates.
