Tina Jane Mathews

Tina Jane Mathews, 88, longtime Seminole resident, passed away, Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at her home in Seminole, Oklahoma. Jane was born October 26, 1930 in Konawa, Oklahoma, to James Otis Joyner and Maggie Leona (Slay) Joyner. Jane grew up in Konawa and attended Konawa Public Schools and graduated from Konawa High School. Jane worked all her life, worked at Nichols Shoe Store, Blue Bell ( now Wrangler), Fred Tolbert’s Meat Market, but most of all working on her farm, doing all the chores that needed to be done. Jane was a wonderful homemaker, who loved to cook, take care of her family, and go on trail rides. Jane married Paul Mathews on November 7, 1948 at Carr City, Oklahoma, southwest of Seminole, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on December 24, 2013. Jane is survived by her daughter Latresa Walker and her husband Greg of Seminole, Oklahoma, her brother Roy Joyner of Henryetta, Oklahoma, two sisters; Shirley Joyner Meeks of Sulphur, Oklahoma and Sue Garner of Winkleman, Arizona, two grandchildren; Tina Walker and Timothy Walker and one great grandson, Eddie Haworth, her nephews; Rick Mathews and his wife Barbara, Tim Mathews and his wife Deb, Lenard Mathews and his wife Dusti and Tom Mathews and his wife Julie, a niece Peggy Mathews and her life partner, Dave Hill, and numerous other nieces and nephews. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul Mathews, three brothers Thomas Joyner, Jo Joyner and Vaughn Joyner, three sisters; Faye Smith, Mary Alice Ramsey and Stella Mae Brown. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, March 11, 2019 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, with Greg Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, east of Seminole on highway 270. Casket bearers will be Toby Swearingen, Rick Mathews, Lenard Mathews, Tom Mathews, Seth Mathews and John Middleton.
