Thyra Mae “Cottie” Magruder, 94 Thyra Mae “Cottie” Magruder, Seminole resident passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 94. Cottie was born September 30, 1922 in Paoli, Oklahoma to parents, Curt Loyd and Nellie (Ward) Loyd. Cottie moved to Seminole as a young girl. Cottie married Emery Junior Magruder on October 10, 1942 in Wichita, Kansas and was a homemaker. Cottie is survived her husband of almost 75 years Emery Magruder; by one son, Curtis Magruder and his wife Gloria of Seminole, Oklahoma; one daughter, Connie Holt and her husband Tim of Pryor, Oklahoma; Sister-in-law Glenna Faye Loyd Peek of Colorado; four grandchildren, Tim S. Holt, Debbie Baumart, Dirk Holt, Courtney Magruder; seven great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. Cottie was preceded in death by her parents, Curt and Nellie Loyd; one brother, C.E. Loyd; two sisters, Edith Shaw and  her husband John and BeBe Combs and her husband Carl and one great grandchild Vivian Rayne Bettleyoun who passed away December 11, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Historic Strother Chapel at Maple Grove Cemetery, Seminole, Oklahoma with Pastor John Baumart officiating. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Seminole, Oklahoma. Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Oklahoma.
