Thurman Lee Smith passed away, Wednesday, July 19, 2006 in Midwest City, Oklahoma at the age of 85. He was born on May 17, 1921 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Seaborn Lee and Mary Magdeline "Maggie" (Pinkard) Smith. rnrnHe married Elizabeth "Betty" Eileen (Gendron) Smith on March 12, 1946 in Fresno, California. Thurman lived most his life in Seminole before moving to Midwest City in 1971, wher he then retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1975. He served in the United States Airforce from 1942 -1945 serving during WWII.rnrnHe is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Gendron, May 17, 1994; two sons, Tommy Smith and Gary Smith; one brother, Raymond Smith and one sister, Sylvia Jackson. rnrnHe is survived by special friend and companion, Evelyn Sherrill of Del City, Oklahoma; two daughters-in-law, Vicki Blochowiak of Oklahoma City, and Kathy Smith of Moore, Oklahoma. One brother, Vernon Smith of California and two sisters, Cybil Jackson of California and Margaret Salter of Shawnee, Oklahoma. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Rhonda Morgan of Enid, Oklahoma, Ted Smith and wife April of Ft. Polk, Louisiana where he is currently serving in the US Army, Travis Smith and wife Wendy of Oklahoma City Oklahoma, and one great granddaughter, Elizabeth Nowakowski of Stillwater, Oklahoma.rnrnFuneral Services with military honors are scheduled for 10:00am, Saturday, July 22, 2006 at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Doyle Loveland officiating.
