Thurman Henry Edwards, Sr., 89 year-old, longtime Seminole resident passed from this life on Saturday, March 24, 2012 in Norman, Oklahoma. He was born April 26, 1922 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to parents Ben Edwards and Ida (Grounds) Edwards. Following High School, Mr. Edwards went on to receive his associate degree. At the age of 20 he enlisted to serve in the United States Army during WWII. Later he worked as president of Edwards Supply Tank Company and Thurmax Oil Field Supply. Mr. Edwards married Ima Mae Edwards on April 28, 1942 in Seminole, Oklahoma; sadly she preceded him in death on July 31, 2009. Mr. Edwards was a member of the Church of Christ in Seminole. Survivors include one son, Thurman Edwards Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two daughters, Angela Ledford of Many, Louisiana and Sandra Edwards of Norman, Oklahoma; four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Mr. Edwards is preceded in death by his parents Ben and Ida Edwards, and by his wife Ima Mae Edwards. Cremations services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma. Memorial Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole with Chris Stinnett officiating.
