Thomas Avis Moss, 87, longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Friday, April 5, 2024 in Shawnee Oklahoma. Tom was born on May 11, 1936 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Frances Vaudell (Dubose) Moss and Avis Greene Moss. Tom grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and attended Capitol Hill High School where he graduated in 1954. He later attended Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma before entering the United States Army in 1954 where he was a demolition expert during the Korean Conflict. Tom spent most of his adult life in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Tom married Terry Louise (Evans) Moss on September 14, 2016 at the Cromwell First Baptist Church in Cromwell, Oklahoma.

Tom was an avid OU fan and an active member of the “O” Club. He enjoyed fishing, shooting, going to pawn shops, singing, listening to music and gardening. He won the “Yard of the Year” award two times while living in Texas. Tom loved western movies. He coached football in Oklahoma and Texas and was a past president of the Uptown Optimus Club. He was a Mason and a member of the First Baptist Church in Cromwell, Oklahoma where he was active in the choir, a brotherhood director and a trustee.

He is survived by his wife, Terry Moss of the home, two sons; Larry and Jolinda Moss of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Danny and Jeanna Moss of Noble, Oklahoma, two daughters; Cathy and Greg Hudson of Guthrie, Oklahoma and Tammy Erickson of Garland, Texas. Tom has ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Tom also has an extended family of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many close friends he welcomed as family. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Avis and Frances Moss.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Cromwell, Oklahoma. Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate, assisted by Vernon Ratton. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memory Gardens, 104th and South Western in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at 3:30 p.m.

Casket bearers will be Chett Horn, Sean Brewer, Jim Horn, David Watson, Shawn Clark and Tim Gonzales. Honorary bearers will be Larry Gardner, John Gilliland, Danny Morgan, Bill Butler, and Toby Stumpf.

Funeral services are under the care of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
