Theodore Jackson “Jack” Wood, 90 year old Maud, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 in Shawnee, Oklahoma where he was a resident of Brookdale Senior Living Center. Jack was born July 7, 1925 in Caviness, Texas to parents, Lawson L. Wood and Vera George (Mann) Wood. Following High School Jack served in the United States Army during the Korean War and WWII. While in the Army he specialized as a Gun Crewman Light Artillery 844 with the 99th Field Artillery Battalion. He earned the rank of Corporal as well as the Bronze Service Arrowhead, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, and the Good Conduct Medal, the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal (Japan). Jack worked for Atlantic Richfield in Portland, Texas as a foreman and superintendent following his service to our country. Jack enjoyed fishing, watching golf, watching old western movies on the television, most of all he loved to take care of his dog “Boss”. He was also a member of the Church of Christ. Jack is survived by seven nieces and nephews, Horace L. Wood of Texas, Mary Frances Frost of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Earlene McGowan of Shawnee, Oklahoma, James David Lane of Wichita, Kansas, Ina Rogers of Canadian, Oklahoma, Larry J. Lane of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Jalaina K. Hurst of Shawnee, Oklahoma. He is also survived by several great, and great-great nieces and nephews. Jack has several friends from Maud and Seminole that he considered family. Jack is preceded in death by his parents Lawson and Vera Wood, by two brothers, Horace Eugene Wood and by an infant brother, Harrell Dee Wood; by two sisters, Mary O. Rogers and Georgia B. Lane. Graveside services with Military Honors are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 28, 2016 in the Veterans’ section of Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma. Frank Brewer will officiate the service. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
