Seminole resident Terry Lee Walker passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in Tulsa at the age of 66. While his time here has come to an end, his stories, jokes, and love will live on for generations.
Terry was born in Seminole on June 23, 1958, to Christine Gibson. He attended Vamoosa Independent School and graduated from Bowlegs High School, class of 1976. Terry proudly served in the United States National Guard and spent many years working in the oil field. Rev Mose Sarber baptized Terry, and he was a member of High Springs Church in Konawa. Terry received mentoring from his brother in Christ, Houston Tiger, which led to Terry’s passion for singing Native Hymns.
From an early age, it was clear he had a sharp wit, a strong will, and just enough stubbornness to keep life interesting. Whether he was lending a hand or terrorizing his brothers and sisters, Terry never failed to leave a positive impression. He touched the lives of many with his kindness, sense of humor, and generosity. He loved his Boom a Rang breakfast and often delivered donuts to the staff of his dialysis center.
Terry is survived by his daughters, Tiffany J. Walker, of Edmond, and Tara Lynn Rhea, of Oklahoma City; brothers Dean Walker, of Konawa, and Ronnie “RB” Burgess, of Seminole; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn Cathey, of Bowlegs, Marilyn Kay & Tom Lehman, of Asher, Gina and Frank Lankford, of Seminole, Larry Jesse, of Shawnee; grandchildren Garret Walker, of Seminole, Raeah Walker, of Edmond, and Emma & Ethan of Oklahoma City; great-grandchild, Kaysen Walker; along with many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Christine Gibson; a brother, David Walker; his baby daughter, Leslie Walker; and his stepdad, Jonas Burgess.
Casket bearers will be Coby Lehman, Taylor Lehman, Jonathon Walker, Peyton Hunter, Nick Burgess, and Gable Melton. Honorary casket bearers are Claude Burgess, Damon Harjo, Trace Walker, and Chris Stormwalker.
Terry will be taken to his home at 320 C Street in Seminole on Thursday, March 13, 2025, and friends and family are invited to join in a celebration of his life.
A wake service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 7:00 PM, at High Springs Church in Konawa.
Services will be on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM at High Springs Church in Konawa, with interment to follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
While he may no longer be here in person, his legacy of love, laughter, faith, and just the right amount of mischief will live on in all who knew him.
