Terry Wayne Fairbanks, long-time Earlsboro resident, passed away Friday, February 26, 2021, at the age of 73, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He was born July 17, 1947 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Clyde and Billie Dean Fairbanks. He graduated from Wewoka High School in 1965 and began working for J.O.B. Construction as a heavy-equipment operator for many years before beginning work building houses for Jack Blair throughout Northeastern Oklahoma. He continued work in construction under Shawnee Asphalt before retiring in the early nineties.
Terry married Martha Ann Wood on February 26, 1985 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. They lived in Wewoka before relocating to Tecumseh, Oklahoma. After several years, they moved to Earlsboro and called this home for the remainder of his life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends, especially camping with his brother, son, and Grandpa at Kiamichi Mountains. He also enjoyed growing a large garden at home and doing yardwork.
Terry was proceeded in death by his parents, Clyde and Billie Dean Fairbanks; one brother, Tommy Fairbanks; his maternal grandparents, Hayes and Goldie Streater and paternal grandparents, Chester & Mae Fairbanks. He is survived by his wife of the home, Martha Ann Fairbanks; two children, Tim Fairbanks and his wife Genia of Peavine, Terra Harrison and her husband Shonts of Glenpool. He is also survived by his brother, Ricky Fairbanks of Farmersville, Texas, sister Beverly Johnson and her husband Gary of Garland, Texas and sister-in-law, Kathy Fairbanks of Idabel, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his step-children, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Viewing for Terry will be from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 and 8:00 a.m. to Noon on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
The graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka with Curtis Kinney officiating.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
