Teddy Thomas Lewis

November 25, 1931 — June 8, 2023

Maud

Teddy (Ted) Thomas Lewis left to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior on June 8, 2023.  This was also his father, Tomie Lewis’ birthday.  Teddy was 91.

Teddy was the youngest son of Tomie and Myrt Lewis of rural Seminole County, 11 miles South of Seminole.  He lived his entire life on this homestead and graduated from Wolf High School.

Teddy was in the US Army and was stationed in Japan with the Military Police. During this time he was awarded the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and Good Conduct medal.  He returned to his home and married Georgia Tripp on September 16, 1967, at Letha Assembly of God Church.  Teddy was a lifetime rancher and farmer, always raising cattle and an assortment of other farm animals such as hogs, chickens, ducks, geese, peacocks and draft horses.  He also continued to run Lewis Grocery for several years after his parents passed.

Teddy was a devout Christian and enjoyed playing the piano, singing gospel music, and preaching God’s word. He and Georgia were long time members of the Old Glory Assembly of God Church near Plant 13.

Teddy loved to buy, sell and trade antique glass and he and Georgia spent many days at antique auctions and farm sales.

Teddy is survived by his wife, Georgia Lewis of rural Seminole County; son, Curtis Lewis; three grandchildren; three nieces, Cyndy Gideon, Kerry McNutt and Linda Schuettenberg.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Tomie and Myrtle Lewis; older sister, Irene Gideon and older brother, Gene Lewis.

Teddy will be buried at the Wolf Cemetery, South of Seminole at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 19, 2023.  A special thank you to Seminole Nursing and Rehab for the excellent care he received while living there the past two months.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
