Tawana Bassett

Tawana Lea (Bussey) Bassett, 80 year-old, longtime Maud resident passed from this life Friday, May 29, 2009 at Crescent Care Center in Crescent, Oklahoma. She was born February 12, 1929 in Maud, Oklahoma to parents Allum Bussey and Sarah Velma (Raider) Bussey.rnrnTawana attended Maud Public Schools and later worked for ?Blue Bell Jeans? in Seminole, currently ?Wrangler Jeans?. Tawana then went to work for ?Appeal Fishing Lure Company? in Maud. However, she had always been a homemaker whose love for family was very evident. She also loved her community where she was involved in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in Maud, the Maud Roundup Club and she was also a member of the Maud First Baptist Church.rnrnShe had married William E. Bassett on October 30, 1945 in Maud, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2007.rnrnSurvivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Carolyn Bassett of Maud, Oklahoma; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Walter Byrd of Poetry, Texas and Linda and Donnie Johnson of Vici, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.rnrnTawana is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William E. Bassett (2007); and by one grandson, Clint Bassett (1999).rnrnGraveside services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 1, 2009 at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma. Rev.
