Sue Markwell

Mary “Sue” (McDonald) Markwell passed into eternal life Friday, October 6, 2017 in Oklahoma City.  Sue was born May 17, 1939 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Vernon Eugene and Iva Mary (Wyatt) McDonald.   Sue graduated from Seminole High School in 1957.  She married George Eugene “Gene” Markwell on December 18, 1959 in Seminole, Oklahoma.  For a short time they moved to Duncan, Oklahoma and Woodward, Oklahoma; they returned to Seminole in 1966 where Sue worked as a bookkeeper for various companies.  She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma and an active member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club.  Sue enjoyed craft projects, sewing, baking, reading and travelling.   Sue leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Donna Aton and husband Steve of Shawnee, Oklahoma, one brother, Bob McDonald of Phoenix, Arizona, three grandchildren, Anthony Gamble and wife Felicia of Yukon, Oklahoma, Robert Aton and wife Amanda of Newcastle, Oklahoma, Karen Roady and husband Brent of Norman, Oklahoma, four great grandchildren, Ayrton Gamble, Jacob and Tucker Aton and Colin Roady, four sisters-in-law, Mildred Story of Wewoka, Oklahoma, Irene Whitehead of Yukon, Oklahoma, Sharon Bane of Seminole, Oklahoma and Kathy Moore of Edmond, Oklahoma, as well as other family and friends.   Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Iva McDonald, her husband, Gene, on February 14, 1979, and one daughter, Deborah Sue Markwell, in April 1961.   A graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma.  Phil Thompson of Liberty Baptist Church will officiate the service.   Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.  Messages of condolence may be sent through www.swearingenfuneralhome.com Funeral Information: October 11, 2017, 1:00 PM Graveside Services at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma located at Seminole, Seminole, OK 74868
